This piece measures 14' x 6' and will be installed on the side of a building at a later date. Community murals are printed on vinyl and installed using a snap frame system.
After receiving a list of area attractions and landmarks from the project committee, a sketch is provided for review and approval before proceeding with design work. I know - this looks gross and unpolished, but going through several iterations at this stage is SO MUCH EASIER than redesigning once you have 120 layers of artwork and just tiny shreds of your sanity left.
Here's a peek at my process for creating a look that's similar to the large letter postcards from the 1930's - 1950's. Make a wavy rectangle, chop it up, carve out stabby pieces and then make the edges softer.
